Those who are temporary foreign workers or foreign students who recently graduated in Canada, often have the qualities to make a successful transition from temporary to permanent residence. You should have good knowledge of English and/or French and qualifying work experience.
Citizenship & Immigration Canada assesses applications for eligibility according to a set of criteria and a point system issued by the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism.
Your application is eligible for processing if;
You plan to live outside the province of Quebec, and be either,
A temporary foreign worker with at least 2 years of full-time skilled work experience in Canada, or
A foreign graduate from a Canadian post-secondary institution with at least one year of full-time skilled work experience in Canada
Must have gained your work experience in Canada with proper work/study authorization
Apply while working in Canada – or – within one year of leaving your job in Canada
Work Experience: Your work experience must be full-time paid within three years (if worker), or two years (if student) of applying. Full-time work means 37.5 paid hours per week. Your work experience must be Skill Type 0, or Skill Level A or B on the National Occupation Classification (NOC). Work experience during gained during studies does not count toward meeting the requirements for work experience.
If you are a foreign worker, your application will be assessed on two requirements:
your work experience, and
your ability in English and/or French
If you are a foreign student, your application will be assessed with the above 2 requirements as well as your education.
Education: Your Canadian education must be full-time at a post-secondary program of at least two years or a one-year Master’s program and an additional year of education obtained in Canada before admission into the one-year program (total of 2 years). Full-time studies must be considered “full time” at your school.
Language: Applicants must take an IELTS test to prove their ability in English and the TEF test to prove their ability in French.
Processing times for Canadian Experience Class applications vary between 5 months and 1 year.
